   
Normal Cholesterol Levels
We all know now what cholesterol is and what it can do to the body. We also know that it comes from either our
genes or a high fatty diet, or both. It is all that waxy stuff in the body, clogging up the arteries. There are two
types of cholesterol, the good, the bad and it is ugly. It is a waxy substance that is found in our
bodies.
To have or get the body to have normal cholesterol can and does take work. When you go to the doctor and they
say you have a cholesterol problem, take heed. They will help you learn more about it and guide you to what needs
to be done. To have normal cholesterol levels is two hundred. Anything numbers above that, you can be at risk for
heart disease, thus leading to a stroke or a heart attack.
To try and break it down can save your life. Knowing the pitfalls of high cholesterol will teach you how to
lower it and live a healthy life. To have ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol means you have too much in your blood, building up
in your arties; it also prevents blood from getting to the heart and leading to a stroke or heart attack. The
‘good’ LDL cholesterol carries away the bad cholesterol from the heart.
There is only about twenty five percent of cholesterol comes from the food you eat. The other seventy five
percent is from the body itself, in other words, you are born with it. Family genes and age affects how much
cholesterol the body makes. There are usually no symptoms. Certain blood tests can determine if you have high
cholesterol or not. Hopefully it will only show a normal cholesterol levels.
Once the blood test comes back you must work with your doctor to get the normal cholesterol levels back to
normal. The doctor will work with you to determine what risks there might be and to find a goal that will work for
you. Lowering that high cholesterol will be a lifetime job, to get it back to a normal cholesterol levels.
Two out of three people that have high cholesterol exercise and diet might not get it back to a normal level.
They might have to take a cholesterol lowering medication to at least control and sometimes in will lower it and
get it back to normal cholesterol levels.
There are some excellent foods that will help normal cholesterol levels and keep them there. Foods with omega 3
fatty acids, this is found in a variety of fish such as mackerel, trout, tuna and the list goes on. Flaxseed and
canola oils can help too. Some doctors will tell you not to use the supplements as they do not do much good.
Try a small bowl of oatmeal in the morning, it reduces the ‘bad’ cholesterol, and besides it will help from
overeating during the day. So there are ways to get normal cholesterol levels but it must be worked at
constantly.
